The Terrestrial Natural Products Laboratory is an academe-based scientific laboratory that conducts researches in the field of natural products chemistry particularly in drug discovery from terrestrial plants.

Researches in this lab targets to:

(1) provide scientific evidence for the ethnopharmaceutical use of medicinal plants, and

(2) to discover unique and novel compounds that could be developed into drugs that can target specific diseases. The TNP Laboratory has developed and optimized assays for screening plat samples for possible use in diarrhea, pain, inflammation, diabetes and dementia. In addition, AMES test and toxicity assays such as mutagenicity and anti-mutagenicity assay, are also being conducted.
