The University of the Philippines Association of Chemistry Majors and Enthusiasts (UP ACME) is a non-political, non-profit, student-oriented academic organization housed on the Institute of Chemistry, College of Science. Established in 1997, UP ACME is aimed at promoting academic excellence while developing leaders with high sense of responsibility, which is exemplified by promoting camaraderie and well rounded development among its members, and undertaking activities for the promotion and appreciation of Chemistry. As stated by our constitution, we are guided by our principles, values and objectives to achieve our vision as an organization.
Dissolved in 2006 but was reestablished two years later, UP ACME continues to safeguard its honor, maintain its integrity and promote a sense of loyalty among its members, led by the member-elected Executive Committee which, through collective efforts of the different committees, help in enhancing the physical, intellectual and social well-being of its members.
As defined by the Merriam Webster Dictionary, the Greek word ACME /'akmi/ is the highest point or stage or one that represents perfection of the thing expressed. This aspect is clearly seen over the years as UP ACME produces honor students, leaders, responsible and creative students, topnotchers, instructors, professors and winners of competitions in and out of the university. UP ACME fulfills a legacy of excellence by senior adviser Guillermo M.NuescaPh. D. and junior adviser Lawrence John Paulo L. Trinidad, geared at uplifting Chemistry in the Philippine setting.
